Here are a few photo hints as to where we spent this Saturday morning...

First parade of the year
Getting a better view from atop dad
Yes, that is a miniature cherry pie :)

That's right...VIESHA!  Pictures of Central Campus would have been a dead give away...as if a tiny cherry pie wasn't!  Starting the tradition early. :)

*If you have no history with Ames or Iowa State, then you were at a real disadvantage here, sorry!

Date Night

Last week's date night had some unusual, but great, combinations...

Lane got some one-on-one time with Aunt Alisa.
Ryan got some time to himself.
And Jack and I had our first "official" mommy-son date...
train table at the library and out for ice cream.
Ice cream was definitely the high light!

A few scoops of mom's ice cream in your own
little cup & you've got one heck of a date!
Every. Last. Drop.
As we were leaving Dairy Queen I told Jack that when Lane got bigger he would get to go with just mom too.  To which Jack happily responded, "Yea, Jack go Esee's (Alisa's) house."  Looks like Ryan has some good alone time coming up in the future...as long as Alisa's on board! :)

Rain Day...#1?

According to the forecast, it looks like this could be the first of a series of "Rain Day" posts.  For today, we filled up our rainy morning with finger painting, the library, and cozying up in a fort with our new library books.  An inside-day isn't all bad!  ...and we're thankful for the much-needed rain!

Taking it slow & careful at first...
...then diving in!
Somewhat typical...for now anyway
(Thanks for the "paint shirt", Shannon.  I know it's technically LANE'S, and technically NOT a paint shirt, but it works great!)

I love reading to this kid!

"Boogie-Boogie"

Jack got to experience his first wedding reception dance last weekend at my cousin Ashley's wedding.  He loved it!  He told me "boogie-boogie" at one point, so I asked if he wanted to dance...yes, but out on the dance floor, not by our table, mom!

Learning the moves from Dad
It was such a joy to see him enjoy it so much!
Boogie-ing with mom
What 2-year old wouldn't love these seizure lights! :)
Jana & Lane
(With so much family there it was like date night for us when we weren't dancing
with Jack.  Ash & Jonnie's DJ placed some great stuff to dance to!)
Jack's idea of a nice smile for a family picture...
...that's a little better!
